The who what where of Boils
What could cause some boils to erupt?
Simply put there can be a lot of causes. Boils can start from an ingrown hair , and others can just be a foreign object that gets under your skin somehow . Then there is the variety that comes from pimples that come from sweat glands that get plogged.
Your skin is an important part of the human immune system. It helps defend against anything that is foreign to your body. When you have a flare up of a boil it can easily become infected with bacteria and what ever else can find its way into your body. Thus it goes without saying we want to take care of our skin, and jump on a boil as soon as you start to feel it
The Boils likely Target
Just about anyone. It seems though that some are more susceptible to them then others. My brother he never gets them ….. Me !!! All the time. However I have nerd that folks with certain illnesses that require medicine , and that medicine impedes the human immune system, they have a tendency to get boils as well. Most at risk are those who have Kidney Problems, or diabetes.
Medications that effect the immune system?
Many medications effect the immune system. The following is a small list , but its the more common ones that could effect your immune system. Meds that are used for cancer chemotherapy – usually if your on those though your really not so worried about a boil . Cortisone medications (prednisone and prednisolone) are other culprits
How can i treat a boil ?
Of course most small boils can be treated at home,,, even ones or a larger size could easily be managed at home. You should of course take action as soon as you notice the rascal starting to rear its ugly head
Most simple boils can be treated at home. Ideally, the treatment should begin as soon as a boil is noticed since early treatment may prevent later complications.
I would start right away with getting some form of heat on the wound. The heat will allow better circulation and help the body in the battle to loose the boil. It will also help the body’s natural born systems to get closer to the fight so to speak.
What about the scalpel ?
As long as the boil is smaller and not come to a head yet , there is no point is getting out your spear. When it softens up and starts to come to a head though you can open it up to let drain. Larger boils might have many pockets of puss and take quite a while to get drained , but take courage, when finally drained, the pain will wilt away. Some small boils, such as those that form around hairs, drain on their own.
Thats it for boils 101……. To be continued
